Job description

The Digital Strategist is a role responsible for leveraging data analytics and digital marketing to enhance client brand positioning and drive business growth. The Strategist leads the development and execution of digital campaigns to reach client performance goals while exhibiting core values of curiosity, warmth, and perseverance. They contribute to the agency purpose of helping consumers make better decisions by working in partnership with client-facing teams to define and quantify objectives, as well as cross-functional teams to activate campaigns across a variety of digital channels. They are performance-driven. This position requires a deep understanding of digital marketing strategies, in-platform execution and activations, as well as proficiency in data analysis tools to optimize marketing efforts and deliver actionable insights.


As part of the Media and Performance team, they service clients by creating a strong online presence and market share. They provide effective and efficient solutions to optimize ongoing operations, streamline processes, and deliver improved target audience experiences in support of the overarching business strategy and integrated execution plan. Reports to the Director of Digital Strategy and Performance.


This is a full-time position. Our team works collaboratively in our Columbia, MD office each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Each employee has the option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.


Key Responsibilities

Digital Marketing and Strategy

  • Develop and implement comprehensive digital marketing strategies to increase brand awareness and engagement.

  • Lead digital channel execution (paid search, paid social, programmatic) through direct management of in-platform activities inclusive of campaign builds and optimizations, content uploads, tracking and monitoring

  • Assess and refine paid and organic social media strategies, gauging return on investment and scrutinizing audience engagement through various analytics platforms.

  • Manage end-to-end email marketing campaigns, leveraging segmentation and personalized content to maximize engagement.

  • Execute SEO strategies to increase organic visibility.

  • Collaborate on the optimization of client websites for user experience and conversion opportunities to ensure a holistic customer experience from the first ad impression through the desired on site user behavior.

  • Collaborate and/or direct the design, layout and content for campaign copy and assets as needed in partnership with creative and technology teams


Data Analysis and Visualization

  • Lead channel data analysis, performance and insights in conjunction with internal and external cadence of review as well as for independent projects and campaigns

  • Utilize various data visualization tools (e.g., Funnel, Looker Studio, Google Analytics 4) to analyze marketing data and campaign performance.

  • Create effective key performance indicators (KPIs) and balanced scorecards to improve decision-making processes.

  • Develop and publish regular performance reports with actionable insights based on available analytics data.

  • Conduct both proactive and reactive analysis for key stakeholders, deriving insights between key metrics and their drivers.

  • Collaborate with clients to provide valuable insights and analysis on marketing analytics to refine strategies and enhance decision-making.


Collaboration and Communication

  • Operate as a trusted thought partner with clients and cross-functional teams, providing data-driven insights and optimization strategies.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including account, creative, and project management, to ensure alignment of digital initiatives with business objectives.

  • Present findings and recommendations clearly to cross-departmental teams and clients, showcasing exceptional presentation skills.
